One of our main objectives as a Foundation is the protection and defence of those person’s suffering from severe mental illnesses and one of the ways we endeavour to fulfil this goal is the “Accion Vida” Or Life Action Project.
In June 2011 we began a life action campaign with Jose Manuel, a person who is diagnosed with a severe mental illness and who we found in a very distressing situation.
We found that he was living in terrible conditions, without water or electricity, mould and damp and a plague of cockroaches were what we found in the flat where he spent his weekends alone.
When we were contacted about his case and discovered the state he was living in we arranged alternative weekend accommodation in the Foundation Centre and began the process of restoring and renovating his flat so he could return to living there in the future in a more comfortable and dignified way.
We really appreciate the donations and contribution of materials we have received from local businesses and individuals which have helped us to improve the quality of life of one of our dear friends and also the hard work from our volunteers who carried out much of the labour involved.
