Our president, Carlos Goertz, representing Fundación Canaria En Pié is traveling to Senegal (Africa) to meet with representatives of various universities, entrepreneurs and NGOs in the area, invited by the president of the “Back 2 Africa” association, Mr Assane Mbengue, to study and organize the “Mad for Africa” project.
Supported by D. Jose Adrian Garcia Rojas, professor and director of the ULL African Studies center in La Laguna (ULL-CEA) University, Mr. Marcel Bonnet, Associate Professor and former Dean of the Faculty of Law University of La Laguna, and Francisco Rodriguez Pulido, professor of the Faculty of Medicine in psychiatry at the University of La Laguna.
“Mad for Africa” is aimed at building a community network of care for people with SMI (severe mental disorder) and their families, towards integration into employment with different initiatives for social integration in the community.
Along this line we are interested in an exchange of experiences in mental health between Africa and the Canary Islands to learn about our realities and our potential for collaboration and mutual support in the field of care for people with severe mental disorders and their families.
